The consistently second-best selling pick-up in Australia will welcome a significant range of enhancements for 2019.

But the big news is the arrival in Australia of the new bi-turbo (BiTurbo in Ford speak) 2.0 litre four-cylinder diesel engine.

That engine, which features in the larger F-150 pick-up in North America, will come standard with a 10-speed auto transmission and will be the same engine that appears in the forthcoming Raptor version of the Ranger.

In the standard Ranger the bi-turbo engine will be offered in XLT and Wildtrak variants.

It will maintain the same 3500kg towing capability as the 147kW/470Nm 3.2 litre Ranger.

Some of the other new additions coming to the Ford pick-up for 2019 include Autonomous Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition and Auto Park Assist.

There’s also a new look grille and suspension tweaks too, Ford telling us those tweaks will reduce and better control roll, with an emphasis on improving the driving experience when fully-laden and towing.
