The fiercely competitive commercial vehicle (CV) market in Europe has a new leader with Ford taking top spot across the first quarter of 2016.
Ford also managed to win the CV sales race across Europe in March.
Sales data shows Ford achieved its best first quarter commercial vehicle sales since 1993 with a 14.4% increase in sales compared to the same period last year.
In total, Ford sold 80,900 commercial vehicles in the first three months of the year in Europe.
In March, Ford did even better in Europe, with (CV) sales climbing 17.3%.
The sales stars for Ford were the Transit, Transit Connect and Ranger. The Transit managed to take the top spot in the combined one and two tonne market segment, while Transit Connect increased sales by around 30% across the first quarter.
Ford Ranger sales were up 24% in Europe, this enabled the ute to take the crown as the best-selling pick-up in Europe.
