After beating Toyota HiLux in the 4×4 ute race in July by 46 sales, Ford is out to maintain that lead and believe this new special edition Ford Ranger will only help.
Announced this morning, the Ford Ranger 4×4 XLS Special Edition arrives in dealerships in September with prices starting from $49,990 manual and $52,190 auto.
Those prices represent a $2,500 price premium above the standard Ranger XLS, however Ford tell us the special edition offering picks up $4,900 in extra features including:
- Sports bar
- Genuine Ford 3,500kg tow-bar
- Side steps
- Bed and tailgate liner
Ford boss Graeme Whickman happy to admit that the special edition model is aimed at further eroding Toyota’s lead over Ford in the ute race overall.
“Already considered one of the most capable and desirable pick-up trucks on the market, we expect the Ranger 4×4 XLS Special Edition will help us narrow the gap to Toyota even further, with Ranger 4×4 now only 172 units behind the Hilux 4×4 year-to-date.”
