Takata recall involves additional Nissan Navara, Patrol vehicles

The Takata Airbag Recall has expended yet again, this time with additional Nissan Navara and Nissan Patrol vehicles being affected.

Being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the recall affects D22 series Nissan Navara utes and Y61 series Nissan Patrol 4x4s.

All affected vehicles carry VINs within these ranges:

The recall notice advising that certain passenger airbag inflators may allow moisture to enter the airbag inflator causing the propellant in the inflator units to deteriorate.

Deterioration of the propellant may lead to abnormal deployment of the passenger airbag.

Abnormal passenger airbag deployment or metal fragment scatter may pose a hazard to the occupants of the vehicle.

Y61 Nissan Patrol 4x4s are now caught up in the Takata recall.

Once parts availability is confirmed, owners of affected vehicles will be advised to contact their Nissan dealer to arrange for replacement of the front passenger airbag inflator.

The replacement will be at no cost to owners.
