The VFACTS vehicle sales data for March is in and once again it was Toyota on top in the cut-throat LCV (Light Commercial Vehicles) sales race.
The data shows that Toyota sold a combined 6,152 LCVs in the month, the Japanese brand finishing well ahead of Ford (4,195) and Mitsubishi (3,109).

Overall, 21,897 LCVs were handed over to customers in the month, a 0.4% dip on the month in 2017, however sales across the first three months of 2018 are still a healthy 9.4% up on the same period last year.
Once again, the Toyota HiLux claimed bragging rights in the 4×2 ute sales race.
Toyota’s offering finished with 1,124 sales in the month and a dominant 31.5% market share.
Best of the rest were Ford Ranger (597), Isuzu Ute D-Max (514), Mazda BT-50 (442), Mitsubishi Triton (321), Nissan Navara (276) and Holden Colorado (192).
Stepping up to the 4×4 utes and of the nearly 16,000 total sales in the month it was the Ford Ranger that proved the more popular offering.
Ford’s ute claimed 3,467 sales in the month, ahead of HiLux (3,224), Triton (2,788), Colorado (1,295), Navara (1,260), D-Max (1,233), LandCruiser (872), Volkswagen Amarok (835) and BT-50 (728).
Among the vans it was the Volkswagen Caddy that claimed the honours with a dominant 66.9% of the small van segment, and the HiAce beat home the Hyundai ILOAD and Renault Trafic in the 2.5 tonne to 3.5 tonne race.
The HiAce bus also claimed bragging rights in the light bus segment in March.
