Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series Recall

Potential brake fault in thousands of LandCruisers sold in Australia.

70 Series LandCruiser’s fitted with ABS are affected.

A recall has been put into action for the LandCruiser 70 Series after it was found the model might suffer from a brake fault.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission are overseeing the recall; they say that under certain conditions the flexible brake hose bracket located on the front differential may fracture around the securing bolt and break, possibly resulting in the leakage of brake fluid.

If the defect occurs, braking effectiveness is reduced, increasing the risk of a collision. The ACCC says owners should avoid driving on corrugated roads at speeds greater than 80km/h, until the fault is fixed.

The recall affects models of the 70 Series fitted with ABS brakes manufactured between May 2012 and March this year.

Toyota will contact affected owners by mail and Toyota dealers will rectify the fault at no charge.
