New entry-level V6 Amarok
There’s been plenty of people wanting a V6-powered Volkswagen Amarok, the only issue has been the starting price was a bit prohibitive for some.
But now there’s a new entry-level variant available in Australia – the Volkswagen Amarok Sportline.
Priced from $55,490, the all-wheel drive Sportline sits under the existing Highline and Ultimate in the range and boasts the same 165kW (up to 180kW on overboost) and 550Nm V6 turbo-diesel engine.
An eight-speed auto is standard, with the option of a six-speed manual coming a little later in the year.
Volkswagen has also pointed out that the vehicle boasts disc brakes all-round, that’s something some competitors don’t offer.
It also fits a full-size pallet between the wheel arches.
While standard gear in the new Volkswagen ute variant includes 18″ alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, reverse camera, Apple CarPlay, tinted rear windows and a mechanical diff-lock.
Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Carlos Santos tells us the new Amarok variant should be very popular.
“Amarok remains the only V6 turbo-diesel ute on the market, a space it alone will occupy for some time to come.”
