A potentially serious fault has been identified in the factory towbar fitted to the current series Mitsubishi Triton and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
The recall of the MY16, MQ Mitsubishi Triton and QE Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
The ACCC recall notice says the vehicles to be recalled have been fitted with a Genuine Mitsubishi Towbar.
With the ACCC advising that the recall comes after the fitted flange head bolts were found to potentially loosen in use.
If the bolts become loose, the ACCC says the towbar can become detached from the vehicle creating a safety hazard to the occupants and other parties.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Triton owners who have a genuine Mitsubishi towbar fitted to their vehicles should contact their nearest Mitsubishi Dealer to make an appointment to have the vehicle rectified.
