Volkswagen has already taken about 6,000 inquiries on the new V6-powered Volkswagen Amarok.
Now comes word that the new turbo-diesel engine will also feature an over-boost function that provides up to 180kW/580Nm for up to 10 seconds.
This is above the engines standard output of 165kW/550Nm.
Volkswagen telling us today that the extra grunt kicks in at 70% accelerator extension and optimal over-boost is delivered in 3rd or 4th gear from 50km/h.
Together, Volkswagen promising the new Amarok V6 will be capable of sprinting to 100km/h in an impressive 7.9 seconds.
Arriving in dealerships from the 24th of November, Volkswagen also confirmed today that the new model will boast disc brakes all round.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Director Carlos Santos says the new engine takes the Amarok another step ahead.
“The Amarok V6 is not an over-hyped concept or a badge engineering exercise,”
“It’s real, it’s almost here and it brings the world’s best V6 turbo diesel, the same unit used by Porsche and Audi in luxury SUVs.”
