Ford has again proven the manufacturer to beat in the competitive UK light commercial vehicle (LCV) market in May 2016.
Official car sales data shows new van registrations in the UK were up 1.9% in May, while heavy van deliveries increased a strong 13.0% and pick-up sales grew by 9.6%.
28,480 new LCVs hit British roads last month with sales overall up by 2.9% this year.
Ford sold 9,218 light and medium commercials vehicles in the month, up from 7,745 compared with May 2015 and that equates to a 19.0% increase.
The Ford Transit and Transit Custom both again claimed top spot in their segments.
Andy Barratt, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director, welcomed the results and says the Ford LCV range is set to improve further in coming months.
“Our highly successful Ford Transit and Transit Custom commercial vehicles also benefit this summer with the launch of the all-new Ford EcoBlue diesel engine, delivering significant cost of ownership and performance improvements for our customers.”
