New Mercedes-Benz pick-up will share Nissan underpinnings.
As we reported last week Mercedes-Benz has committed to having a pick-up in its line-up by 2020, now comes news that the German brand will link up with Nissan to make it a reality.
Reuters reports that Daimler AG (Mercedes-Benz parent company) will expand its cooperation with Nissan with the midsize utility set to share some of the underpinnings with an all-new Nissan pick-up (the new Nissan Navara/NP300).
The Mercedes-Benz pick-up will even be built by Nissan in Argentina.
Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche said its crucial Mercedes-Benz enters the pick-up market as soon as possible.
“Entering the rapidly growing segment of midsize pickups is an important step in continuing our global growth path,”
“Thanks to our well-established partnership with the Renault-Nissan Alliance, we are able to drastically reduce the time and cost to enter this key segment.”
