Takata air-bag recall affects vehicles sold by Performax.
Dozens of vehicles sold in Australia by vehicle importer and right hand drive conversion company Performax are caught up in the widespread Takata air-bag recall.
Joining recalls of Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Mazda and Subaru vehicles sold here, the recalls affecting vehicles sold by Performax include 2007-2008 models of the Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 Heavy Duty, GMC Sierra 2500/3500 Heavy Duty and Ford Mustang (including GT).
All affected vehicles were sold in Australia by Performax between the 1st of December 2006 and the 31st of December 2008.
As with all Takata air-bag recalls, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission recall notice says that the driver air-bag inflator housing may rupture due to excessive internal pressure during normal air-bag deployment events.
An inflator rupture during air-bag deployment events could result in metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the vehicle occupants.
Affected owners will receive a letter when replacement parts are available. More info is also available from the Performax website, or by calling 07 5482 7833.
