Recall of Performax converted Ford F-Series Trucks underway

Steering box issue sees Ford F-250 and F-350 vehicles recalled

Australian owners of Ford F-Series trucks imported, converted and sold by Performax International will be required to return their vehicle to have a possible issue with the steering box attended to.

Affecting a total of 100 MY14 and MY15 Ford F-250 and F-350 Trucks sold in Australia, you can check if your vehicle is affected here (have your VIN handy).

The Ford F-Series/Performax International recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

The recall notice advising that trucks fitted with a specific steering box (Performax Part Number 1000283-1) might develop a condition in which contact between the steering knuckle and the steering stop occurs.

This condition can develop through normal wear and tear.

The steering box issue could lead to a loss of steering control

If this condition is evident over prolonged periods of time, under full lock in a car park type situation, this might cause excessive strain on the tie rod ends and potential failure to this part, causing a loss of steering.

Affected Ford F-Series owners should contact Performax International or one of its dealers to have the recall procedure conducted.
