Australian vehicle manufacturer gets help to build EV…

We’ve been covering the continued growth of the Australian off-road vehicle manufacturer, Tomcar Australia, now the Melbourne-based operation has just received another boost.

Just a day after it was announced that a funding deal would assist the manufacturer towards its goal of becoming a publicly listed company (details here), the CSIRO has now confirmed it would be assisting Tomcar to build an electric vehicle (EV).

Tomcar and five other Australian businesses will receive the CSIRO Kick-Start assistance which provides dollar-matched funding of up to $50,000 to enable research projects for start-ups and small businesses.

The vehicle manufacturer, which has made its name building vehicles for mining and other off-road applications, will utilise the funding to complete research into electrification of their vehicles with CSIRO’s Manufacturing team.
