The 2015 Toyota HiAce is getting a few tweaks with two new variants being added to the popular models range and a new petrol engine too.
Announced today by Toyota Australia, the big change is the introduction of the new 2.7 litre petrol engine develops more power and torque than the superseded power plant, while fuel consumption drops by up to 19.9%!
The new engine meets Euro 5 regulations and produces an additional 7kW and 2Nm for a total output of 118kW and 243Nm.
Beyond the new engine, the HiAce is now also being offered with a diesel engine in the five-seat crew van configuration and buyers are also being offered the option of reducing the number of seats in the petrol commuter bus by two – from 14 to 12.
That change for the commuter bus allows the variant to be driven on a standard drivers licence.
With prices staying steady, or dropping on some variants, Toyota Australia executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the HiAce now ticks even more boxes.
“The five-seat crew van enables drivers to transport fellow workers during the week and family members at other times,”
“Offering a 12-seat bus that can be driven on a standard licence will be much appreciated by tour operators and other users, saving them the cost of doing their own conversion. “
“Simultaneous increases in output and fuel economy for the petrol engine, standard fitment of vehicle stability control and other safety features, plus other additional features will ensure the ongoing popularity of HiAce as Australia’s best-selling van and top-selling bus.”
