The recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
The recall notice advising that it has been found that out of specification adjustments can be made to the tie rods during a wheel alignment.
This can cause them to be adjusted to an unsafe thread engagement between the tie rod and the steering rack.
What are the hazards?
The unsafe thread engagement between the tie rod and the rack may cause steering vibration, which may pose a hazard to the driver.
Affected Toyota Tundra owners will be contacted by direct mail and asked to arrange to take their Tundra to a Performax International dealer or authorised agent for the recall to be carried out.
The tie rod extensions will be replaced at no charge to the vehicle owner.
Alternatively, affected owners can contact Performax International on 1800 737 367 to arrange for a third-party repairer to complete the repair.
