Throttle cable issue sees Polaris four-wheeler recalled

Fifth Polaris recall in a month

Another Polaris off-roader has been recalled – this time the Scrambler XP1000 ATV is affected.

Coming after four other Australian recalls were announced for Polaris vehicles in the past month for issues including possible fuel tank, brakes and wiring faults, the latest recall affects only around 130 sign-seat ATVs.

All of those vehicles were sold locally between the 1st of January 2014 and the 8th of August 2017.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is overseeing the recall and advises that certain model year 2014 – 2017 Scrambler XP1000 models were not calibrated to enter safe mode in the event of a stuck throttle cable.

In the event of a stuck throttle cable the ECU will illuminate the check engine light but will not limit engine RPM or vehicle speed.

What are the hazards?

In the event the throttle cable becomes stuck, the operator could lose control and have an accident causing injury or death.

Affected Polaris owners are being asked not to use their vehicle until it has been inspected and repaired by an authorised Polaris dealer.

Owners will be contacted by mail at their Polaris-registered address and instructed to contact their local Polaris dealer to arrange for an inspection and repair of the vehicle.
