Ford Transit April 2024 update
Ford Transit boosts towing capacity, adds new tech and customization options in latest lineup. The legendary Ford Transit has been upgraded with infotainment and Driver Assist Technology, adding to its practicality and cargo-carrying smarts.
- Ford adds a selection of smart features as standard in Transit lineup, with arrivals expected in late Q3, 2024
- New gearbox brings added performance and efficiency to most affordable front-drive Transit
- Improved towing and carrying capacities allow customers to haul cargo with confidence
Upgrades for the world’s best-selling cargo van will be available for all MY2024.75 models and are designed to help businesses do more with their vehicles, and optimise their operations.
The headline change is an increase to the maximum braked towing capacity and Gross Combined Mass (GCM) for all load-hauling models (bar E-Transit), along with minor increases to payload figures.
The 350L FWD Transit now has a maximum braked towing capacity1 of 2750kg, and GCM of 6000kg, an increase of 950kg and 1750kg respectively. Meanwhile, 350L RWD models now boast 3500kg of maximum braked towing capacity1, and a 7000kg GCM, increases of 750kg and 900kg compared to the outgoing models.
Dual-wheel 430E Transits in both van and cab-chassis bodies now also have 3500kg towing1 and 7000kg GCM, up 1100kg and 900kg on the current models.
Ford Transit Interior updates
Inside the cabin drivers will now be able to appreciate a new 8-inch semi-digital cluster, providing a modern and sleek cockpit design that allows for quick access to important vehicle data. Additionally, previously exclusive to the E-Transit, all single rear-wheel variants now come equipped with an electronic park brake, freeing up cabin space which saves time for delivery drivers who frequently enter and exit their vehicles.
Further adding to the convenience for drivers, all MY2024.75 models have Push Button Start allowing drivers to simply hop in and put their key back in their pocket or favourite cabin storage location.
Technology
All Transit variants also gain a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, with the standard feature providing peace of mind while on the road. All Van and Bus models now have a 360 Degree Camera system to make parking and manoeuvring in tight spaces easier than ever. By providing a bird’s-eye view on the SYNC screen, drivers can navigate challenging spaces with confidence. Cab chassis versions of the updated Transit now feature front fog lamps and front parking sensors, adding to the already standard rear parking camera.
Ford’s commitment to providing businesses with the latest technology for business owners means the updated Transit is fitted with our latest 5G Embedded Modem, compatible with FordPass2, giving customers faster connectivity in 5G connected areas.
There are minor visual changes that identify the updated Transit, with new black badges and a simplified Blue Oval design demarcating the exterior design.
A new 8F57 eight-speed automatic transmission replaces the six-speed auto as standard for the front-drive 350L LWB Transit van, offering a smoother driving experience and enhanced efficiency. This transmission also moves from a traditional gear lever in favour of a more modern rotary gear selector, which adds to the cabin’s sense of space and ease of use.
