Concerns design fault in aftermarket towbar could lead to accidents.
An aftermarket towbar fitted to Isuzu D-MAX, Holden Colorado and Holden Rodeo vehicles is being recalled over a design fault that could potentially pose an accident risk.
The Allin Towbars product was manufactured to be suitable for 2008 to 2012 models of the Isuzu ute, as well as Holden Rodeo vehicles built after January 2006, and Holden Colorado 4WD models with a factory rear step bumper.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is overseeing the recall, they say that the towbar can be identified by an Allin Towbars compliance sticker on the towbar or on the inside panel of the driver’s door.
The part number is – IS1/GM85.
The ACCC recall notice says that one of the towbar fitting components may be incorrect (spacer tube) and may cause movement between the towbar arm and vehicle chassis.
Continual movement between the towbar arm and chassis may cause damage to the vehicle chassis.
If the defect occurs, and a caravan or heavy trailer is being towed, heightened movement of the towbar may lead to an accident hazard for the driver or other road users.
The suspect towbar was sold between the 1st of January 2006 and the 14th of August 2014 at the following retailers;

Vehicle owners should immediately stop using the towbar and contact Allin Towbars to organise a vehicle inspection and replacement of fitting components.
