The Mercedes-Benz X-Class will welcome a new flagship variant in December when the X 350 d 4MATIC arrives in Australia.
Set to be offered in two variants, Progressive and Power, prices will kick off from $73,270 and $79,415 respectively.
Powered by a Euro 6 compliant 190kW/550Nm 3.0 litre V6 turbo-diesel engine, the X 350 d comes as standard with 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive and a seven-speed auto transmission.
Low range gearing, a rear diff lock and 222mm of ground clearance ensure the Mercedes-Benz ute is capable away from the asphalt.
Like the four-cylinder version the new flagship model will, not surprisingly, come as standard with Autonomous Emergency Braking (the first dual-cab pick-up in Australia to come with AEB tech).
ESP trailer stabilisation, a tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, and a reversing camera come as standard too.
The Power grade model adds aluminium dash trim, black roof liner and new 19” 6-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels.
Leather seats are an optional extra.
The V6-powered X-Class weighs in at 2285kg, a hefty 376kg over the entry-level rear-wheel drive four-cylinder variant (1909kg).
There’s a 965kg payload and an expected 3,500kg towing capacity.
We’ll bring you more details on the new variant in the X-Class range ahead of the model’s local arrival.
