Ford confirms pricing and specs for 2019 Ranger range

Ford will be hoping to finally topple Toyota HiLux on the back of a new engine coming soon to the Ford Ranger.

The new 157kW/500Nm bi-turbo four-cylinder diesel will land in the Ranger 4×2 dual-cab XLT from $51,490, the engine also appearing in the 4×4 super-cab XLT and dual-cab XLT.

The top-spec 4×4 Wildtrak with the new engine fitted will start from $63,990.

The new engine carries a $1,200 price premium over the standard 3.2 litre 147kW/470Nm engine in the XLT and Wildtrak.

The new engine also comes as standard with a new 10-speed auto transmission.

“The Bi-Turbo with 10-speed automatic is the most capable powertrain ever offered in Ranger.” – John Willems, Ford Ranger Chief Program Engineer.

The new twin-turbo diesel engine will also be offered in the forthcoming Ranger Raptor, pricing for that one is yet to be confirmed.

  • 118kW/385Nm 2.2L 4-cylinder TDCi Euro 5 compliant
  • 147kW/470Nm 3.2L 5-cylinder TDCi Euro 5 compliant
  • 157kW/500Nm 2.0L Bi-Turbo 4-cylinder Euro 5 compliant

Ford’s Ranger also welcomes refreshed looks for 2019, including the addition of HID headlamps and LED daytime-running lights.

The XLT grade Ranger also gets smart keyless entry with push-button start for the first time.

While the Ranger Wildtrak is boosted by a power lock tailgate, AEB with Pedestrian Detection, Semi Auto Active Park Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.
