Holden gives the Colorado a significant refresh for 2014.
Going well beyond a simple make-over, the Holden ute and SUV offering will now feature a new Duramax 2 diesel engine, upgraded automatic transmission, all-new six-speed manual gearbox, and an all-new app-enabled infotainment system.
Best of all prices essentially remain the same, only $200 will be added to automatic version of the Colorado.
The new engine, which offers 15kW more than the old engine with 147kW, and an added 30Nm for a new peak of 500Nm of torque when matched to the new auto transmission, is sure to please buyers.
Holden say that recalibrated auto transmission includes shift stabilisation in uphill and downhill modes and grade braking control which prevents unnecessary shifting between gears when travelling uphill, and suitable shifting when travelling downhill to minimise braking.
While the new six-speed manual transmission is a standard offering across the Colorado truck range and when teamed with the new Duramax 2 engine buyers get the same 147kW, but maximum torque of 440Nm.
Fuel consumption remains essentially the same as the 2013 range.
Other added features for the 2014 Colorado range include;
- Trailer Sway Control
- Hill Start Assist
- Descent Control System (except Colorado DX)
- Front side air-bags (for all LX, LT and LTZ models)
- Rear Park Assist and a rear camera (all Colorado 7 models and Colorado LTZ)
- Seven-inch colour touchscreen on Colorado LX, LT and LTZ models and Colorado 7 range
Holden has also added to its range of genuine accessories for Colorado and Colorado 7 with the addition of an alloy SuperBar, steel bullbar, black nudge and sports bars and a reverse camera.
Philip Brook, Executive Director of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing at Holden says the changes will help attract more buyers to the Colorado.
“We’ve put a lot of time and effort in ensuring we delivered a real contender and serious competitor in the LCV and SUV market,
“The latest Colorado range ensures this tough vehicle continues to stack up against the rest and offers consumers a serious 4WD, with the latest technology, that’s a workhorse, a family vehicle or is just as at home on Australia’s most rugged terrain.”
The Colorado range starts at $27,990.
