Australian owners of the Volkswagen Caddy are being asked to return their vehicle to a Volkswagen dealership to have a potentially dangerous fault rectified.
Affecting 2012 and 2013 models, the Volkswagen Caddy electrical fault recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
The ACCC recall notice advising that in Volkswagen Caddy vehicles of a limited production period, the earth attachment of the on-board power supply control unit may not have been correctly tightened.
In certain circumstances the starter motor may crank the engine when unlocking the vehicle.
If the vehicle is left in gear, the vehicle can then move. The vehicle can move by itself if left in gear posing a risk of accident.
2012 and 2013 Volkswagen Caddy owners are being asked to contact their nearest Authorised Volkswagen Dealership for repairs to their vehicles.
