Electrical fault recall for Great Wall V200 utes

Chinese built ute recalled to fix wiring defect

Nearly 10,000 Great Wall Motors V200 utilities are being recalled to fix a problem that could lead to the melting of a wiring harness, leaving the vehicle stranded.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is overseeing the recall.

The action was launched after it was found that when the vehicle is driven, the wiring harness may come in contact with the bottom of the radiator and wear through an outer protector sleeve.

The ACCC recall notice advising that the defect may cause an earthing point preventing the wiring system from functioning correctly, resulting in the alternator dash light coming on or a flat battery.

In extreme cases the wiring harness may melt internally.’

A letter is being sent to affected v200 owners advising them to contact their authorised GWM dealer and make an appointment for their vehicle to be inspected.
