Amarok First VW Recalled to Fix Diesel Emissions Issue

Huge program of recalls launched by Volkswagen with the Amarok up first.

Volkswagen has commenced a series of recalls to address the diesel emissions issues that plagued that have plagued the car company since the well-publicised issues came to light last year.

The recall program will commence with the Volkswagen Amarok being the first model to be have the software update installed by Volkswagen dealerships. In all there are 8,694 Volkswagen Amarok utes that will require the free upgrade.

Volkswagen advise that owners of affected Amarok vehicles have been contacted via email this morning, owners will also receive a letter from Volkswagen Group Australia inviting them to make an appointment with their local Volkswagen dealer.

Taking around half an hour to complete, Volkswagen is assuring owners that the measure does not lead to a deterioration of fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, engine performance, torque and vehicle acoustics.

Post the software update, Volkswagen say all vehicle will continue to outperform the minimum emissions requirements of both Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards.
