Camshaft fault sparks Fiat Ducato recall

Concerns Fiat Ducato 2.3 litre engine could suddenly stop…

A recall of some Fiat Ducato vehicles sold in Australia has been initiated after a possibly serious engine issue was identified.

The recall affects Fiat Ducato vans fitted with the 2.3 Multijet engine.

Being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the recall notice advises that the camshaft could potentially crack while the vehicle is in use.

This is due to a non-compliance of the material during production process.

What are the hazards?

If the camshaft cracks during use the vehicle could stop suddenly, posing a safety risk for the occupants and other road users.

Affected Fiat Ducato owners will be contacted by direct mail.

Those owners will be asked to take their vehicle to an authorised Fiat dealer for an inspection and replacement of the camshaft.
