Ford F-150 gets F-22 makeover

Toughest F-150 Raptor ever!

We love a customised ute/truck/pick-up around here and we’re yet to see anything cooler than this Ford F-22 F-150 Raptor.

Built by Ford to raise funds for an organisation that encourages young Americans to consider a career in the air force, or aviation in general, the truck has just sold at auction for $300,000 ($375,000 AUD).

Inspired by the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor fighter jet, the truck was purchased by the owner of a major Ford dealership in Las Vegas.

Described as the ultimate high-performance off-road truck, the F-22 F-150 Raptor is powered by a tweaked 335kW version of the Ford V6 EcoBoost engine.

It also features beefed-up off-road suspension, custom forged beadlock wheels, six-piston brake calipers, off-road LED lighting system and 1,500 watt ‘Kicker’ audio system.

While as the pictures show, the truck also got a custom paint job integrating F-22 Raptor jet cues including titanium grille and carbon-fibre fender flares, hood and fender vents.

ford f-22 f-150Built by Brad and Doug DeBerti from DeBerti Design, Ford design manager Melvin Betancourt tells us he couldn’t be happier with the finished product.

“Few things are as streamlined, as gloriously intimidating as the shape, metallic colour and sinister speed a fighter jet represents,”

“The simple, extreme functionality of the cockpit alone proved inspiring, prompting the team to create matte finishes, purposeful gauges, controls for ready proximity and dramatic LED lighting for the instrument panel.”
