Ford Ranger knocks off Toyota HiLux in 4×4 ute race

Toyota holds on to 4x2 market but slips behind the Ford in 4x4 sales…

The Ford Ranger has managed to beat the Toyota HiLux in the 4×4 ute sales race in September, however Toyota remained number one in 4×2 sales.

VFACTS data for September 2016 shows that overall, the Toyota scored 3,209 ute sales in the month, ahead of the Ford rival’s 2,903.

However, the Ranger managed to win-over 2,451 4×4 ute buyers in the month, compared to the HiLux’s 2,311 sales.

Overall, 4×2 ute sales increased by 19.5% in the month with 3,534 sales recorded and 4×4 ute sales jumped 15.3% with 12,347 Australian deliveries.

  • Ssangyong Actyon Sports 4X4 – 1 (-85.7%)

There were no sales recorded in Australia for the Great Wall V200/V240, or SsangYong Actyon 4×2 offerings in the month.
