HiLux dominates ute sales race in September 2018

Ute Sales – The numbers are in and the Toyota HiLux once again topped the ute sales race in Australia last month.

The September 2018 VFACTS sales data has been released and shows the HiLux 4×2 and 4×4 finished more than 1000 units ahead of the Ford Ranger in the month.

Mitsubishi Triton, Nissan Navara, Isuzu D-Max, Holden Colorado, Toyota LandCruiser and Volkswagen Amarok finished behind the highly-fancied Toyota and Ford offerings.

RAM Trucks did well, the U.S.-sourced pick-up trucks found 84 customers in the month across 1500, 2500 and 3500 variants.

While overall, 4×2 ute sales dropped 20.2% in the month, 4×4 did better, improving 2.7%.

  • Holden Colorado 4X2 – 198 (+53.5%)
  • Holden Utility 4X2 – 2 (-99.5%)
  • Isuzu Ute D-Max 4X2 – 391 (-0.8%)
  • Mazda BT-50 4X2 – 278 (-46.5%)
  • Mercedes-Benz X-Class 4X2 – 1
  • Mitsubishi Triton 4X2 – 183 (-8.5%)
  • Nissan Navara 4X2 – 339 (+18.5%)
  • Toyota Hilux 4X2 – 1,000 (+9.3%)
  • Volkswagen Amarok 4X2 – 13 (-62.9%)

September 2018 4×4 Ute Sales:

  • Ford Ranger 4X4 – 2,870 (-23.9%)
  • Great Wall Steed 4X4 – 39 (+129.4%)
  • Holden Colorado 4X4 – 1,120 (+23.1%)
  • Isuzu Ute D-Max 4X4 – 1,055 (-2.0%)
  • LDV T60 4X4 – 278 (>999%)
  • Mazda BT-50 4X4 – 597 (-30.3%)
  • Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon CC – 17 (-46.9%)
  • Mercedes-Benz X-Class 4X4 – 106
  • Mitsubishi Triton 4X4 – 1,674 (+9.3%)
  • Nissan Navara 4X4 – 1,374 (+54.7%)
  • RAM 1500 Express – 30
  • RAM 1500 Laramie – 36
  • RAM 2500/3500 Laramie – 18 (-51.4%)
  • Toyota Hilux 4X4 – 3,338 (+14.8%)
  • Toyota Landcruiser PU/CC – 812 (+5.0%)
  • Volkswagen Amarok 4X4 – 740 (-18.7%)

The one-tonne van race was again won by Toyota HiAce, however the Volkswagen Transporter, Mercedes-Benz Vito and the LDV offerings all found additional buyers.

  • Hyundai iLOAD – 334 (-31.0%)
  • LDV G10 – 160 (+73.9%)
  • LDV V80 – 47 (+9.3%)

  • Renault Trafic – 193 (-2.0%)
  • Toyota Hiace Van – 581 (-4.6%)
  • Volkswagen Transporter – 199 (+27.6%)
