If you own a Mazda BT-50 ute with a manual transmission you could be among nearly 3000 BT-50 owners being asked to return their vehicle to a dealership.
The recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and involves Mazda BT-50 utes sold in Australia between the 14th of July 2015 and the 2nd of February 2016.

The recall notice says that on UR series Mazda BT-50 vehicles with manual transmission the gearshift cable retaining clip may not be fully engaged, which could lead to the gearshift cables moving out of position and contacting the propeller shaft.
What are the hazards?
Continued contact between the gearshift cables and the propeller shaft could cause damage to both, which may result in difficulty changing gears or loss of drive.
This may pose an accident risk to the vehicle occupants and other road users.
What should affected owners do?
Mazda Australia will contact all affected owners by mail asking them to contact their local dealer to arrange for an inspection and repair of the vehicle.
