The likes of Uber have changed the way we use transport, and in an attempt to compete, Transport for New South Wales in partnership with Transdev will launch a new on-demand public transport service.
Trials of Transdev Link will be run in Sydney later this year, utilising ten Mercedes-Benz Sprinter buses to ferry passengers to transport hubs, business precincts and shopping centres.

Trips can be booked from a smartphone app, online or on the phone and each van will be customised with electric sliding doors, privacy glass, wheelchair accessibility, USB charging points and free WiFi.
Areas included in the trial will be the Sutherland Shire, and Manly and the Eastern Suburbs for a fee of $2.60 and $3.10 respectively.
Transdev CEO René Lalande says Sydney commuters can have the convenience of getting to where they want to go at any time.
“With Transdev Link customers can put their bus timetables away, and enjoy a personalised shuttle service when and where they need it in their local area.”
While Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Vans, Diane Tarr says the are pleased to be a part of this new initiative.
“The trial fits perfectly with our direction of new mobility concepts for the on-demand transportation of goods and people and at the same time showcases the functionality and reliability of our Sprinter Transfer Minibus.”
