Incorrect rivets supplied with Triton double-cab accessory cover.
Mitsubishi Triton Double-Cab owners who opted to purchase the soft tonneau cover kit are being urged not to use the product.
The Mitsubishi Triton Tonneau Cover Recall is being overseen by the ACCC after it was found the rivets supplied with the kit may not adequately hold the tonneau cover securely.
The ACCC recall notice saying that inappropriate length rivets may have been supplied with the accessory soft tonneau cover kit. Some kits contained 14mm long rivets instead of the required 17mm length.
With an incorrect 14mm rivet the tonneau cover is not attached securely and may dislodge unexpectedly. In the worst case scenario, the dislodgement may create a hazard to other road user or pedestrians.
Affecting a total of 605 Mitsubishi Triton owners, Mitsubishi Motors Australia will make contact by mail and request that they present their vehicle to their preferred Mitsubishi Motors dealer for rectification at no charge.
