Nissan could have a specific version of the Navara available for applications such as emergency and disaster recovery services.
Known as the Nissan Navara EnGuard Concept, the vehicle was unveiled today at the Hannover Motor Show.
Interestingly, there is more under the skin of this Navara ute than what might meet the eye.
Nissan has fitted a prototype portable battery pack, featuring the same tech as that found in the Nissan LEAF, and instead of providing driving power, the seven EV battery modules provide power outlets that can power tools like specialist cutting or heavy-lifting equipment.
The vehicle is powered exclusively by a 140kW/450Nm 2.3 litre turbo-diesel engine.
While other additions built into the Navara concept, which has been jacked up 50mm higher than standard, include its own drone, which can be used as a flying camera, strobe lights, beefed-up fenders and moulded side steps.
Philippe Guerin-Boutaud from Nissan Light Commercial Vehicles, says the Navara EnGuard Concept has been designed to save lives.
