Polaris Sportsman 570 ATVs recalled

Fuel leak sparks U.S. recall

No word yet of similar action in Australia (update: Australian recall announced), however thousands of Polaris all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) sold in the U.S. are being recalled to fix a possible fuel leak.

The U.S. recall involves a total of 25,600 Polaris 570 ATVs, all are MY14 vehicles and all were sold between April 2014 and May 2017.

Authorities in the U.S. say the U.S.-built ATVs can develop a fuel leak that can see fuel get into the headlight pod and this poses a fire hazard.

Owners are being urged to immediately stop using the recalled ATVs and contact Polaris to schedule a free repair.

Polaris is contacting all known purchasers directly and say they have received 30 reports of fuel leaks and four incidents involving a fire.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

The ATVs were sold in several colours and have ‘Polaris’ printed on the front grill, and ‘Sportsman 570’ printed on the side panel.

We will bring you details of any Australian recall of the Polaris ATVs as those details come to hand.

The U.S. action comes after two separate Polaris recalls have been initiated already this year – the first covered possible issues with the brakes and engine, the second recall surrounded a seat screw problem.
