Renault Australia looking at LCV option for extra grip

There could soon be some interesting additions to the Renault Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) range in Australia with the local operation considering some new ‘high-traction’ variants.

Designed for use in what has been described as ‘tough conditions’, Renault has just introduced what it calls ‘X -Track technology’ in the Kangoo, Trafic and Master LCV ranges in Europe.

Renault Australia looking at LCV option for extra gripWhat exactly is X-Track? Well, Renault tell us the technology covers four main aspects of the vehicle: Limited Slip Differential, a raised ground clearance, underbody protection and All Weather tyres.

While the Renault Master takes things a step further with a 4×4 transmission coming online that can be operated in both 4×2 and 4×4 modes.

Lyndon Healey, Renault Australia Model Line Manager for LCV, telling us that the X-Track option could be coming our way.

“When it comes to traction performance, the needs of business customers can vary significantly depending on the terrain, conditions, type of work and payload,”

“Compared with a standard transmission, the new Renault X-Track 4×2 technology delivers superior mobility on difficult terrain, in snow, unsealed surfaces and on poor quality roads.

“The Renault X-Track 4×2 is an alternative to four-wheel drive when off-road capability is not required. It delivers exceptional performance on poor roads and in difficult conditions.

“The option is available on Kangoo, Trafic and Master from the factory and we plan to evaluate the systems locally to determine their suitability for the Australian market.”
