Norwegian postal service orders 240 Renault Kangoo EVs.
The push towards electric vehicles continues to gather pace in Europe with one of the largest electric car deliveries of all time taking place in Norway this week.
Posten, the Norwegian postal service, ordered 240 Renault Kangoo EV’s, known as the Kangoo Maxi Z.E., for use for parcel delivery duties in mostly high population areas of the country.
The postal service is cashing in on Norway’s generous electric car enticements, including free parking and registration!
With a goal of dropping CO2 emissions by 40% by 2020, the Renault EV delivery vans join a Posten fleet of 900 electric vehicles, including electric cars and bicycles. Offering a range of up to 170km from a single charge, the Norwegian postal service ordered all 240 Renault vans in traditional red paint.
Here in Australia, where local Renault bosses are working to try and get the EV version available, Australia Post just completed a 12-month trial of the Renault Kangoo Maxi Z.E., no word yet on whether the local postal service was keen to make a long term commitment to the 2012 International Van of the Year winner.
