Significant orders for Workhorse Group electric pick-up

Orders received for more than 2,150 electric delivery vehicles

We’ve been covering the continuing development of the U.S.-based Workhorse Group and now comes news of significant orders for the company’s electric vehicles.

Interestingly, while Workhorse is making its name with its delivery trucks (details here), the new orders are for the company’s electric pick-up truck – a model that hasn’t even entered production yet

Known as the Workhorse W-15, the orders/letters of intent come from an array of electricity suppliers and public authorities.

Workhorse Group W-15 Key Facts:

  • Electric power supplied by Panasonic Li-on batteries.
  • 128km all-electric range
  • BMW-supplied on-board petrol range extender
  • Weight-saving carbon-fibre body panels
  • Set to be officially unveiled in May

“We believe the W-15 will be the first electric plug-in pickup made in America by an OEM,” said Steve Burns, Workhorse CEO.

“Fleets look at total cost of ownership for their vehicles and we are very encouraged by the number of fleets that the positive feedback we have received with respect to the economics in owning W-15s as part of a fleet.”

The Workhorse ute is expected to be priced at $52,500 (USD).
