Three models given Five-Star ANCAP ratings

HAVAL, LDV and Honda models all deemed safe

Three new car models have been bestowed a full Five-Star Safety Rating by ANCAP including two Chinese makes.

This would come as a surprise to most casual observers with the recently launched LDV T60 dual cab ute and the HAVAL H2 SUV both gaining good safety scores.

But it seems they’ve proven themselves worthy with perfect scores for the side impact and pole crash tests as the Chinese work to gain a foothold in the Australian market.

The popular Honda CR-V also got a gong for all its variants with the best frontal offset test and overall score of the three.

The HAVAL H2 has done on better than its stablemate the HAVAL H9 which only scored Four-Stars last year due to its occupant protection and applies to all models built since October 2015.

Like all utes however, the LDV T60 doesn’t come fitted with autonomous emergency braking.

ANCAP CEO James Goodwin says the top rating for the new LDV T60 gives prospective ute buyers another serious choice.

“This broadens the segment even further with added choice for safety-conscious consumers using their ute for work and weekends while helping LDV gain sales traction in the highly competitive utility segment.”
