Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series upgrade confirmed – Toyota wants the 70 Series LandCruiser to have a five-star ANCAP safety rating.

Toyota will introduce added safety features to the popular Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series in 2016 in a bid to help the 4×4 model attain a five-star ANCAP safety rating.

The updates are expected to be introduced to the 70 Series by the second half of next year and are expected to include the introduction of vehicle stability control, brake assist and cruise control.

While Toyota has also confirmed that single-cab models will also gain three more air-bags, curtain-shield (two) and driver’s knee, these join the existing compliment of driver and front-passenger air-bags.

Tony Cramb from Toyota Australia sales and marketing says the Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series safety upgrade will only help cement the models incredibly popular standing in Australia.

“These updates will support continued strong buyer demand for an unapologetically rugged vehicle that is renowned for its heavy-duty capabilities.”

“We have worked closely with employers in mining, agriculture, construction, communications support and recreation to develop these improvements.

“Toyota’s commitment to them – as well as to the towns, rural communities and work sites where the LandCruiser’s reputation was born – will further cement the unique bond with customers forged over the past 30 years.”
