Volkswagen Australia has announced further details of its 6.1 generation of Transporter van and people movers.

While the ‘6.1’ nomenclature would suggest only a half-step from the previous T6 range, the raft of equipment, both standard and optional, is extensive. So too is the range of efficient drivetrains, transmissions and body styles on offer – a hallmark of one of the most versatile of automotive icons.
While the arrival of new models and equipment is sure to attract new customers wanting to secure a piece of automotive history, the range of new standard safety equipment, the latest in infotainment tech and new styling, all 6.1 models are every bit a modern Volkswagen, while still retaining some of the classic charm and personality of the six-generations of Transporters and Kombis.
Across the whole range, 6.1 vehicles receive a plethora of standard safety and convenience technology. This includes Front Assist with City Emergency Brake (CEB), Crosswind Assist, Side Assist including blind spot monitoring and Rear Traffic Alert, Multi-collision brake and, in some models, the intuitive digital cockpit. In addition, the new range of vans and people movers continue to offer the convenience of Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, a feature not offered even in some passenger vehicle marques.
In short, the 6.1 generation of vans and people movers promises more of what Volkswagen customers have come to expect: excellent choice, features and specifications; a raft of new technology and, of course, a comprehensive five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty with a range of flexible purchasing and servicing options.
The Transporter, Caravelle and Multivan 6.1 generation of vehicles are available to order now through Volkswagen’s national dealer network and online from Monday 10 August, with vehicles arriving in Australia from November.
