Top-spec sporty Ranger to start just under $75,000

There’s no doubt Aussies are going nuts over high-spec utes and Ford looks set to cash in with the Ford Ranger Raptor.

The new flagship variant of the big-selling Ford Ranger line-up will be in Australian Ford dealerships in September.

Prices have been confirmed as kicking off from just under $75,000.

Ranger Raptor joins Mustang as Ford’s halo offerings.

While plenty of tradies will no doubt find the cash to grab a Ranger Raptor, the new offering is undoubtedly more performance-focused than workhorse.

Some of the key selling points include:

  • 157kW/500Nm Bi-Turbo Diesel Engine
  • Light-weight 10-speed auto transmission (with paddle-shifters)
  • 283mm of ground clearance
  • Long travel suspension
  • 150mm wider front and rear track
  • Beefed up body work
  • All-terrain off-road tyres
  • Upgraded brakes
  • Ford Performance interior including sports seats and unique instrument cluster

While standard features will include:

  • Sat-Nav
  • SYNC3 connectivity (with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto)
  • Rear Parking Sensors
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Hill Descent Control
  • Traffic Sign Recognition
  • Rain-sensing wipers
  • Reverse camera

The only thing missing? Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).

Ford telling us the auto braking system is coming to the Ranger, including Raptor, however there’s no firm ETA on the tech’s Australian arrival (we’ll keep you updated).
